The Tenojoki is one of Northern Europe's great river systems. Outatupa sits above the valley with views of the river and the fells beyond. Grayling and trout fishing is available with permits. The pace here is different — you fish when you want, eat what you catch, and fall asleep knowing the river will still be there in the morning.
A typical day
What your days actually look like
- Morning on the river — grayling and trout in the tributaries and side pools.
- Midday break at Outatupa. Cook your catch in the full kitchen.
- Afternoon: back to the river, or rest. The balcony overlooking the valley works too.
- Smoke sauna before dinner. Non-negotiable after a day in waders.
- Long evening by the fireplace or on the balcony. In midsummer, there is no sunset.
Why Outatupa
What makes this place fit the trip
- River valley location: the Tenojoki and its tributaries are the reason to be here.
- Smoke sauna: the genuine article, heated with wood. Not an electric box.
- Full kitchen: clean your catch and cook it properly. Fridge-freezer for multi-day trips.
- Balcony with valley views: watch the river from above when you are not in it.
- Two apartments: anglers + partners, families + friends — everyone gets space.
